Once an important industrial port, the factories in Nord-sur-Erdre are long gone, leaving behind a stunning landscape. Visit the 19th century church of St Christophe, which has some lovely stain glass windows, or visit one of the town’s park areas. The chateau of Blain dates back to the 12th century and belonged successively to two famous Breton families. Today it belongs to the town and is home to an old style printing factory, an art exhibition and a restaurant. At Guenrouet visit the Kerisac cider factory will teach you all you need to know about this tipple. Redon is an historic maritime port, and the docks display several old buildings dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Today the wet dock has been converted into a huge marina and in the town there are plenty of shops and a museum dedicated to the town’s history. La Gacilly is a craft centre and home to 25 craftsmen, including painters, sculptors and cabinet makers. The headquarters of the perfume makers Yves Rocher can also be found in this welcoming village.
