River Cruise - Dinan

Dinan

Dinan is a walled Breton town in the département of Côtes-d'Armor, France. It is one of France's most attractive walled towns. Its geographical setting is quite exceptional. Instead of nestling on the valley floor like Morlaix, most urban development has been on the hillside, overlooking the river Rance. Narrow cobled streets are lined with half-timbered medieval houses and much of the old town centre is pedestrianised.

Major historical attractions include the Jacobins Theatre dating from 1224, the flamboyant Gothic St Malo's Church, the Romanesque St Saviour's Basilica and Duchess Anne's Tower. There are spectalular views of the river gorge and the stone viaduct from the English gardens.

The restaurants are excellent and the local speciality is the Gallette; a buckwheat pancake stuffed with a myriad of fillings. Delicious!
