The old centre of Nancy has a heritage that spans from the middle ages to the 18th century, but is most noted for the Art Nouveau movement which promoted architecture, arts and crafts in this style. There is a museum dedicated to the Art Nouveau Ecole de Nancy.

Saverne is set on an important pass through the Vosges mountains. The Château des Rohan now houses the local museum and a hostel. The gardens of the château are framed by the Canal de la Marne au Rhin. For lovers of gardens the city is home to the famous rose gardens "La Roseraie", and the Saverne botanical gardens are 3 km outside the city centre. There are a number of signposted walks around the Saverne area, details of which are available from the tourist office. One of the most popular is the walk the ruins of Château du Haut-Barr.

The city's fruit and veg market is held on Tuesday and Saturday mornings on Boulevarde de la Marne.
